What this saves you
The hours you lose to typing, formatting, numbering and laying out a paper — not the judgement about what your class needs. You still set the assessment; you just stop building it from scratch.
Before you hand it out
Read it properly. The AI follows CAPS closely, but it can misjudge a mark, phrase something awkwardly or get a detail wrong. That read-through isn't a workaround for the tool's limits — it's the part that makes the paper yours, and it's why you stay the examiner.
Making it fit your class
Click Edit Paper or Edit Memo and everything becomes editable right where it sits — questions, headings, marks, answers. Change a mark and the totals and cover grid sort themselves out; edit the paper and the memo follows. Reword a question for the learners in front of you, swap in a context they'll recognise, add your school's logo. If you'd rather finish in Word, export it.
Try a topic before committing to a full paper
Use an Assessment or Quiz to see how a topic or theme comes out before you build a whole test around it. They generate quickly, cost less of your allowance, and stick to exactly the topics you name — so you can find out which wording gives you the questions you want, then run it as a Standardised Test once you're happy.
If a diagram sits awkwardly
Drag any label, or rotate the whole figure, in edit mode. Reset undoes it. Regenerating a whole paper over one label isn't worth your time.
Worth knowing
The total may land slightly above or below what you asked — the AI would rather write well-weighted questions than pad to a round number. Nudge marks up or down, or add and remove a sub-question, to land it exactly.
Set Exam format to DBE or IEB: same CAPS content, different section structure, cover page, instruction wording and memo conventions.
Upload your own sources — extracts and notes, or images: diagrams for Maths and Physical Sciences, cartoons, photographs and infographics for History and English.
You can regenerate a memo after larger edits, or regenerate a single diagram if it comes out wrong.

The more information you give the AI, the better — and the closer it will generate to your needs. You stay the examiner; we just do the typing.
Make your own practice tests. Pick a subject, grade and topic, and you get a question paper plus a memo with the answers and working — as many as you want, on whatever you're stuck on.
Do the paper first, then check the memo. Timed, closed book, written out. Reading the answers first feels productive and almost never works — you recognise the method without being able to do it yourself. Got one wrong? Redo that question a day later instead of moving on.
Be specific about the topic. "Grade 11 Physical Sciences — Newton's Laws and friction" gets you something far more useful than "Science". Revising for a particular test? Use the same wording your teacher used.
Pick the right exam format.DBE for public schools, IEB for independent ones. It matches the layout and question style to the papers you'll actually write.
It can get things wrong. Not often, but a mark or an answer can be off. If something doesn't look right, check your textbook or ask your teacher — this is a study tool, not a replacement for either.

💡 Tip for General subjects: Be as specific as possible with your topic (e.g. "Grade 10 Life Sciences — Photosynthesis and Respiration" rather than just "Biology"). For best results, add your own notes under Teacher Resources and attach source materials or extracts under Your Source Materials below — this helps the AI generate questions that truly match your curriculum and classroom context.
