Refund & Cancellation Policy

Mark Maker is an AI-assisted assessment generator for South African schools, operated as a sole proprietorship by Gabriel Katz. This policy explains how cancellations and refunds work for our two product types: teacher subscriptions and student credit packs. By subscribing or purchasing, you agree to the terms below.
Teacher subscriptions
Teacher plans are recurring subscriptions billed either monthly or annually. You may cancel at any time from your account or by contacting us.
Monthly plans
- You can cancel a monthly plan at any time.
- Your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Monthly payments are not refunded — cancelling stops the next charge, it does not refund the current month.
Annual plans
- If you cancel within 30 days of an annual payment, you receive a refund of the annual amount minus one month at the standard monthly rate (covering the period you had access).
- After 30 days, the annual payment is non-refundable, and your subscription runs to the end of the paid term.
- At annual sign-up you are asked to acknowledge these terms before payment.
- We send a reminder email approximately 5 days before the 30-day refund window closes.
Failed renewal payments
If a renewal charge fails (for either monthly or annual plans):
- We email you immediately to let you know the payment did not go through.
- You keep full access to your plan for a 4-day grace period. We do not automatically retry the charge.
- During this window you can renew by updating your card details through Paystack, or choose to cancel. We never store or re-submit your card details on your behalf.
- If no action is taken within 4 days, the account is downgraded to the free tier. Any tests you have already saved are kept.
Student credit packs
Students purchase one-time credit packs (Starter, Standard, or Bulk). These are not subscriptions — there is no recurring charge.
- Purchased credits do not expire.
- An unused credit pack can be refunded within 14 days of purchase, provided no credits from that pack have been spent.
- Once any credit from a pack has been used, that pack is non-refundable, as the digital service has been delivered.
- Free monthly tests have no monetary value and are not refundable.
How to cancel or request a refund
To cancel a subscription or request a refund that falls within the terms above, contact us at the email below with your account email address and a short description of your request. We aim to respond within 2 business days.
Disputes and unhappy customers. If you are unhappy with the service, please contact us first — most issues (for example, a generation that did not work as expected) are resolved quickly by re-generating or by us crediting the attempt. Where a refund is due under this policy, we process it to the original payment method via Paystack. We do not hold customer funds; all payments are processed by Paystack, and eligible refunds are returned through the same channel.
